The History Society - Who we are and what we do

Like many areas where people have lived for long periods, Diptford has an interesting history beginning with slate extraction in Roman times. The History Society runs a series of presentations on various topics local to our area.

Meetings are held 4 times a year.

Running alongside that there is an ongoing book project. Have you ever wondered what it would have been like living in Diptford in the past - what your position in life would have been? How you would have earned your living? What life would have been like? Christine Scott has been collecting material from personal reminiscences of people who have spent most of their lives in this area and the material is to become the basis for a book - or rather two books as there is too much for one! Christine would be glad to hear from anyone with information or interested in taking part in the project.
