Dart Valley U3A

On Thursday 11th March at the Flavel members listened to a talk entitled Zen and the Art of Guitar Playing and given by Andy Borthwick, a retired teacher and the founder chairman of the Dart Valley U3A ten years ago. Andy's talk was about learning to play the guitar and a wonderful example of learning something new in our 'third age'. But it was far more than that. He enlightened us about learning how to learn. How, by learning about your own personal 4 Rs; Resilience, Reflectiveness, Resourcefulness and Reciprocity you could realising your personal goals and have the tools to achieve those things that you've only dreamed about.

The next Dart Valley U3A meeting will be on Thursday April 8th at 10am Lynn Falzarano will talk about Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

DFDP was set up in 1982 to provide 'hearing' dogs for profoundly deaf people. Lynn Falzarano, a hearing aid

audiologist, became aware of the charity during her training and is now chairman of the South Devon Branch. Those that have heard her before say that members are to expect a lively and interesting morning, which as always, will be followed by coffee and biscuits, giving members a chance to chat the meeting finishes at around 12noon.

Why don't you give it go you'll make new friends? You might even find yourselves learning a new skill through one of the many interest groups. For membership details please contact Ray Lester on 01803835033 or just come along to one of the monthly speaker meetings (free for visitors) and see what you think.
